Annamaet has formulated a diet made specifically to meet the needs of your senior dog. Annamaet Re-juvenate is made with wild caught, sustainable silver carp. These filter feeders are high in Omega 3 Fatty Acids, helping to promote healthy cognitive function in aging dogs. Silver carp are high in protein and low in fat, as seniors require more protein on a calorie basis than young adults. Annamaet Re-juvenate also contains coconut oil, which is rich in medium chain trigylcerides, well known for optimizing elderly brain function. Turmeric is also included in this senior formula, one of the most potent, natural anti-inflammatories.
The silver carp we use in Annamaet Re-juvenate is wild caught from the Illinois River. They are a non-native fish invading lakes and rivers in the Mississippi River and Great Lakes regions and negatively impacting native organisms. With a voracious appetite they are reducing the amount of food available to native species. Protecting our natural resources have been part of the fabric of our company since we began. Utilizing silver carp is a great way to preserve our natural resources, they provide a great novel protein source for our pets, in fact when we had it analyzed it was one of the best nutrient analyses.
Silver carp are not a “bottom-feeding” fish like catfish or other carp species. Instead, the silver carp are “filter feeders” they collect and feed on plankton floating in the water as they move through it. They are considered a clean fish as they eat by filtering tiny plants and animals from the water, as whales do. Since they eat low on the food chain, toxins don’t build up in their meat, or bioaccumulate, as much as in predatory fish.
