Earlier this year, the Annamaet Petfoods team attended Global Pet Expo 2025 in Orlando, Florida with one mission in mind: to educate on optimum nutrition in pets for all life stages. In addition to debuting our new Feline Lean formula and utilizing our booth to connect with retailers, pet industry leaders and friends from around the world, Annamaet Founder and CEO, Rob Downey, and Board-Certified Veterinary Nutritionist, Dr. Joe Wakshlag provided a Q&A, hosted by Annamaet Executive Vice President, Alex Downey.
The Q&A covered a variety of pressing topics, including Annamaet’s long-standing commitment to the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC). As much of his and Annamaet’s history is based in the outdoors, Rob noted that sustainability is inherently “woven into the fabric of our company.”
Rob and Dr. Joe also covered the benefits and drawbacks of raw feeding compared to other methods of nutrition, and discussed ingredients like calcium, copper and tourine. They revealed that every ingredient comes in at least 4 different quality levels.
The pair also discussed the development of pet food formulas, specifically the influence of the industry and academia on Annamaet’s products, including the new Feline Lean.
Sponsored by the American Pet Products Association (APPA) and the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA), Global Pet Expo is a world-renowned pet industry tradeshow featuring the newest and most innovative pet products on the market. The show is only open to independent retailers, distributors, mass-market buyers and industry professionals, but ANYONE can watch this informative Q&A session here.
